The “Recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures” (TCFD) were announced at a meeting of the Financial Stability Board of the Bank for International Settlements on June 29, 2017, then submitted to a meeting of the G20 Finance Ministers held on July 7 and 8 that year. Although the Task Force recommendations are seen as guidance for “voluntary” corporate disclosure of climate-related information, we believe they will actually have a major impact on how corporations operate.
More than 100 influential investors and corporations around the world have made climate-related financial disclosures and endorsed this guidance. There is growing international interest in investments that emphasize environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing initiatives of corporations, so to help Japanese businesses properly understand and follow the Task Force guidance, Green Pacific prepared a Japanese translation of the main text.
